Question by courts: Fishy “therapist”. No license. What next?
Hello. I am going to a center for suboxone treatment (opiate treatment). I have read MANY MANY bad reviews about this place, but only after I had already been going. I decided to look up my “therapist” and found out he no longer has a license, and hasnt had one since 03. The only thing is I have never recieved a business card from him so I am not sure if he is claiming to actually BE a therapist, or if he is just hoping people will assume he is. The front desk always says “Ok now is today a doctor visit or are you seeing the therapist?” Now lets just give the benefit of the doubt and say he DOES NOT claim to be a therapist… Is he breaking any laws by treating and giving advice (medical and emotional) as just a regular guy? Is this just a “shame on me” for not further researching, or should he legally not be doing this? A few other things, he is very rude and nasty, we hardly ever talk about anything relating to my addiction, I am being charged for an hour, and I usually get about 40 minutes from him tops, AND he walks me off of the premises, smokes cigarettes outside during our session, and takes me to the nearby coffee shop. I just find all of this quite unprofessional and I do not know what I am dealing with. Not only that but the doctor I am being prescribed suboxone from, In the month I have been going to this place, I have not met him in person. I did look him up and he IS a doctor in WI. But they said I have to skype him because his wife in Korea broke her leg and he needs to be with her. Are any laws being broken by making me skype with a doctor whom I have never met in person and having him prescribe schedule 3 drugs from Korea? This just all seems very fishy to me and I just find it very unprofessional. I live in WI. Any questions/concerns you can answer would be fantastic. If you do see some red flags that are grounds for a possible case, what kind of lawyer might I need to contact? Thank You.
